Methodology, assumptions & sources
- Units needed (events) — from our guest‑count sizing guide: 1–50 guests → 1, 51–100 → 2, 101–250 → 3–5, 251–500 → 6–8; alcohol raises each band by roughly 20–30%; public events get at least 5% ADA units (rounded up). Above 500 guests we scale the top band linearly and label it extrapolated.
- Units needed (job sites) — OSHA guidance of one toilet per 20 workers, rounded up.
- Unit rates — the same national 2026 ranges as the comparison table: standard /day for events, /week, /month; ADA /day, /week, /month; restroom trailer per event package. Job‑site rentals of 4+ weeks use the monthly rate.
- Hidden fees — delivery/pickup per order, fuel surcharge , extra pump‑out each, after‑hours . Delivery is counted once per order; multi‑unit drops at several locations can add more.
- Trailer count defaults to one unit per 250 guests (rounded up) — stall counts vary, so treat the trailer line as an order‑of‑magnitude number. Taxes, access surcharges, damage deposits, and attendant service are excluded.
- Ranges are national benchmarks compiled from provider pages and 2026 price guides (citations on the comparison page). Last verified . Not a quote.
How to read the estimate
The unit line multiplies how many units the sizing guide says you need by the national rate for your unit type and duration. Everything below it is the part quotes tend to leave off the headline: delivery and pickup, the fuel surcharge, extra pump‑outs for multi‑day events, and after‑hours delivery. The total is a national range, not a quote — high fuel, labor, and disposal markets skew above it; rural and Southeast markets skew below.
Before you sign
- Ask what service frequency is included and what an extra visit costs.
- Confirm ADA units for any public event (at least 5%, rounded up).
- Check access: a truck needs to reach the placement spot, or expect an access surcharge.
- Get the fuel surcharge and any weekend or after‑hours fee in writing.
